What situations and conditions can be helped?

The focus is the person not on the condition, but here is a list of some of the life-situations and mental states helped over the years:

  • trauma, especially early relational trauma

  • depression, anxiety, and bipolar states

  • the effects of narcissistic, intrusive, or unreliable parenting

  • sexual abuse

  • difficulties in parental, work, sexual and caring relationships

  • wanting creative expansion or help integrating powerful experiences

  • questions around sexual identity and becoming oneself

  • recovering from, or fear of, breakdown

  • hearing voices

  • agoraphobic or claustrophobic feelings

  • obsessive symptoms

  • sudden or bewildering setbacks in life

  • boarding school and other early educational wounds

  • worrying, compulsive, or criminal behaviours

  • support through transitional or in‑between life stages

  • my research interest is around historical/political/intergenerational trauma

This list is not an exclusive.

And there are some areas - specifically serious eating, addictive or autism spectrum disorders - where I will almost always refer people to specialist providers.

Depth psychology of this sort is for the very ill, the very well, and those in-between. It heals/facilitates growth by helping the unconscious reveal itself, safely and creatively.
